Use case
Legal document translator for privacy-sensitive drafts
Legal documents can contain party names, addresses, identifiers, bank details, signatures and confidential facts across clauses, tables and exhibits. A legal document translator should not require pasting every plaintext value into a public translation box.
Veil Translate creates a reviewable first-pass translation: supported files are parsed in the browser, confirmed sensitive entities are replaced with placeholders, and only masked text is sent directly to the provider you select. This is not certified translation or legal advice.
Documents this workflow fits
The workflow fits legal memoranda, NDAs, policies, corporate records, correspondence and supporting exhibits that need a draft translation for internal review. A separate contract-focused page covers agreements and clause-heavy commercial contracts.
DOCX, XLSX and PPTX structures are preserved. Text-based PDF pages can be rebuilt with translated text near the source positions; scans, encrypted PDFs, rotated text and vertical writing are outside the supported scope.
Review sensitive values and terminology
Before translation, review suggested names, IDs, phone numbers, emails, bank accounts and organizations. Remove false positives and manually add values the detector missed before any request is sent.
Use the glossary for defined terms, entity names that should stay public, or wording that must remain consistent. Glossary matches become protected placeholders and are restored with the target wording you specify.

Important limits for legal use
Machine-generated output is a draft. It is not certified, sworn or notarized translation, and Veil Translate does not determine whether a translation meets court, immigration, regulatory or filing requirements.
Detected and confirmed entities are masked, but the remaining de-identified body text is readable by the translation provider. Have qualified counsel or a professional legal translator review high-stakes output.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a certified legal translation service?
No. It produces a first-pass machine translation for review. It does not issue certificates, notarizations or sworn-translator statements.
Can it keep legal terms consistent?
Use the glossary to define required translations for recurring terms. The final document should still be reviewed by someone qualified in the relevant legal system.
Does my original legal file pass through your server?
No. Parsing, masking and rebuilding happen in the browser. Only masked text and your API key go directly to the provider you choose.
